"Last week Target Corporation gave $150,000 to Minnesota Forward, which i using the money to run TV ads for Republican Tom Emmer's campaign for Minnesota governor. Emmer has connections to anti-gay groups. This donation, clearly acceptable under the new Citizens United Supreme Court ruling angered many in the state, seeing this as a $150,000 contribution to fund ant-gay politics. One Eden Prairie mom and grandmother took her anger directly to a Target. Her repeated attempts to get to Target executives failed so she took her Target Charge Card. A $226 purchase on that card was immediately returned for credit and...

In a move that could burnish his credentials as a “moderate” Republican, Senate candidate Mark Kirk announced Friday that he supports President Obama’s choice of Elena Kagan for the U.S. Supreme Court. "Under the Constitution, only the President can make this nomination and Solicitor General Kagan is one of the more careful nominees he could have picked,” Kirk said. Only two Republican senators have publicly declared so far that they are voting for Kagan. The vote will be over by the time Kirk would take his senate seat. But his announcement that he would support her makes it harder for...

"Hello, my name is Joe Biden. I work for Barack Obama." With that, the vice president brought Obamacare to Nairobi last month. If not the policy exactly, then the strategy: confuse and obscure the issues, and demonize opponents. Biden was in Kenya leading what sounded a lot like a rally for that nation's new constitution, one that's going to be voted on in August. It's a fatally flawed document, inimical to the values of many Kenyans. The government lost a constitutional vote once before, and it's called out the big guns for this propaganda campaign, including claimed promises of an...

.....One idea for raising taxes to pay down the debt is the bill introduced this February by Rep. Chaka Fattah (D-Pa.). His “Debt Free America Act” (H.R. 4646) would impose a 1 percent “transaction tax” on every financial transaction — whether paid by cash, credit card or any form of financial transfer, the only exception being transactions involving the purchase or sale of stock. Theoretically, everyone would pay one cent on the dollar for every such transaction in America every day — whether $3 million on a $300 million business acquisition, $300 on the purchase of a $30,000 car, or...

The Progressives (a.k.a. Democrats) are up to their old tricks. On the eve of the eve of the Fourth of July Weekend, counting on little attention being given to their actions in the House due to celebration preparations, they are discussing and voting on HR 4899 Additional FY2010 and Disaster Spending. Now who could be against providing more funds to assist our boys in uniform, especially right before the Fourth of July, right? That is the Progressive Strategy and that is why they have attached numerous ‘expenditures’ which have nothing to do with funding the War in Afghanistan. This bill...

Republicans still have time to transform their concern about the explosion in the size of our government into a directed political force that sweeps elections this November. The single person who can now do the most to make this happen is RNC Chairman Michael Steele. How? By resigning. The latest mark against Steele is the apparent exposure of a personal belief deeply at odds with Republican philosophy. Yesterday, Mr. Steele said of the war in Afghanistan that “this was a war of Obama’s choosing.” ... Indeed, major donors have deserted the RNC. The DNC has led the RNC in fundraising....
