The recent political documentary craze has at last zeroed in on one of the conservative movement's brightest and most engaging stars, Ann Coulter. Until now, the 40-minute documentary "Is It True What They Say About Ann?" has only been screened at small film festivals, such as the American Film Renaissance and the Liberty Film Festival. With the release of the Ann Coulter documentary on DVD this week, Ann's legions of fans will finally get a behind-the-scenes look at the conservatism's "diva." Ann's childhood, career, and controversies are all covered in this relatively flattering tribute. This new documentary was directed by...

I was extremely lucky to be part of history this past weekend, when America’s first conservative film festival took place in Dallas, Texas. The American Renaissance Film Festival was scheduled for the third anniversary weekend of the 9/11 terrorist attacks and it was a fitting tribute. I was there to accompany my mother, Mara Wallis, whose documentary, Entertaining Vietnam, screened at the festival. In fact, Vietnam loomed large at the festival, thanks in large part to John Kerry who foolishly built his whole presidential campaign on a house of cards. In a weird way, we can thank Kerry for finally...

Michael Moore (search) was a no-show at the first-ever conservative film festival held outside Dallas last weekend. The liberal moviemaker's absence is not a surprise since the film that earned a two-minute standing ovation was the world premiere of a documentary titled, "Michael Moore Hates America." There were 24 conservative-minded films screened at the three-day American Film Renaissance Festival (search) in the Dallas suburb of Addison, Texas. Movies included "George W. Bush: Faith in the White House," "DC 9/11: Time of Crisis" and "The Peace Commies," which addresses "subversive radicals behind the peace movement." "We make no bones about the...

DALLAS—The opening night of the American Film Renaissance, the nation's "first and only" conservative film festival, featured an African-American pianist sitting in a ballroom of Dallas' InterContinental Hotel and playing "As Time Goes By." On Saturday and Sunday, aspiring right-wing auteurs suggested that if we could just get back to the values of Casablanca—you know, Nazism, adultery, casino gaming—the studios would make movies worth watching again. "We're seeing the rise of conservative film," said Alan Lipton, the co-director of a short called Operation Eagle Strike.
